Lapeer lost a tough game Thursday night to Lakeview 21-7.
Lapeer was led on offense by Lincoln Hensel on the ground, who rushed for 86 yards on 13 carries. Will Fisher had the lone touchdown run for Lapeer in the third quarter. Lapeer’s defense was led by Carson Olejniczak, who had 9 tackles, and Braylen Wojciechowski, who had 7. Jero Sison and Jase Fuller also had multiple tackles for losses in the game for the Lightning defense.
Lapeer will host Goodrich High School this coming Friday for their first home game of the year.

Lapeer fell in a tough game Friday night to visiting Goodrich.
Lapeer started fast with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by senior Evan Hornback. Goodrich responded and took a 13-7 lead into halftime.
Lapeer came back and regained the lead after a rushing touchdown by junior Lincoln Hensel. Goodrich was able to score at the end of the third quarter making the score 21-14.
Lapeer had a few drives in the fourth quarter into Goodrich’s territory but could not finish the drives and came up short with the final score being 21-14.
Lapeer was led on defense by Jero Sison, Cayden Newberry, and Braylen Wojciechowski. All three had double digit tackles for the game. The offense was led by Hensel, who ran for 67 yards on 13 carries. Hornback, Fisher, and Newberry all had multiple catches on the night for Lapeer.
The Lightning is back in action next week on the road in Saginaw looking to get on track against Saginaw United.
September 12, 2025
The Lapeer Lightning got their first win of the season this past Friday night, 21-6, on the road against the Saginaw United Phoenix.
Cam Vanecek was an efficient in 12 for 15 passing with 188 yards and two touchdowns in the air along with a rushing touchdown.
Evan Hornback had 113 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions.
Lincoln Hensel led the way on the ground running for 132 yards.
The defense forced three interceptions on the night. Cayden Newberry, Mason Kemp, and Wyatt Hind all took the ball away in the air for the Lightning. Hunter McCormack had a huge game on the defensive line recording three tackles for losses and a sack. Chance Hargrave also recorded a sack for Lapeer.
Jase Fuller blocked a punt in the fourth quarter helping Lapeer put the game away late.
Next up is Homecoming Sept. 19 against Carman-Ainsworth.

Lapeer had a big win over Carman-Ainsworth on Homecoming, 47-28.
Lapeer was led on offense by Cam Vanecek, who ran for 94 yards and threw for 160 more along with three touchdowns in the air. Lincoln Hensel ran for 150 yards and two scores. Will Fisher had eight catches for 76 yards and ran in for a score. Evan Hornback had two touchdown receptions and Evan Pretty had a score.
Lapeer forced five turnovers in the game - three interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Evan Hornback, Carson Olejniczak, and Braylen Wojciechowski all had interceptions. Ethan Taylor forced a fumble on a kickoff that was recovered to set Lapeer up with great field position.
Jero Sison, Chance Hargrave, Hunter McCormack, and Jase Fuller anchored the front for the Lightning defense who forced five tackles for loss and two sacks.
The win pushes Lapeer’s record to 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in the SVL.
