The Lapeer Varsity Cheer team kicked off their competitive season on December 20 at Flushing High School, and they certainly made their presence known.
Coming out strong in Rounds 1 and 2, the team showcased power, precision, and incredible teamwork that set them apart early in the day.
Despite battling weeks of illness leading into the competition, the squad refused to let adversity define them. Even after a challenging Round 3, Lapeer showed true resilience and heart, finishing an impressive fourth place out of eight teams. Their determination, grit, and refusal to give up proved exactly what kind of athletes they are.
Coach Deanna and Coach Mel expressed just how proud they are of their team not only for the way they performed, but for the strength, commitment, and unity they demonstrated throughout the entire experience. They came togetehet as a true cheer sisterhood!
This is only the beginning for Lapeer Varsity Cheer, and with their power and potential, the future looks incredibly bright.

Lapeer Cheer shows heart, grit, remarkable growth at Kearsley Invitational
The Lapeer Varsity Cheer team delivered an unforgettable performance at the Kearsley Invitational this weekend, earning third place in Division 1 and finishing fourth out of eight varsity teams overall -- a powerful statement of growth, resilience, and heart.
In just one week, this determined team raised their score by an incredible 19.25 points! This is a testament to their relentless work ethic, focus, and belief in one another. That kind of improvement doesn’t happen by chance. It comes from long hours, honest self-reflection, and a deep commitment to getting better every single time they take the mat.
What truly sets this team apart is their heart. Every athlete showed grit, passion, and an unwavering drive to be stronger than they were the last competition even fighting through some hard sickness.

Lapeer Varsity Cheer earns second-place finish at Clio Invitational
On Saturday, the Lapeer Varsity Cheer team delivered a performance that was equal parts powerful, inspiring, and unforgettable, earning a second-place finish at the Clio Invitational and continuing a season defined by growth, resilience, and heart.
In just one week, Lapeer Varsity Cheer raised their overall score by an astounding 36 points, a remarkable jump that reflects the team’s unwavering dedication and belief in one another. This kind of improvement doesn’t happen by chance—it comes from long practices, mental toughness, and athletes who refuse to settle for where they were yesterday.
The road to Clio was not without challenges. The team faced constant changes and adjustments, asking athletes to stay focused, adaptable, and committed even when circumstances were difficult. Instead of letting those obstacles slow them down, Lapeer leaned into the process, trusted their training, and showed up with confidence and determination.

Lapeer Varsity Competitive Cheer takes second place at Powers Catholic Challenge
This past Saturday at the Powers Catholic Challenge, the Lapeer Varsity Competitive Cheer Team proved that heart, resilience, and unity matter just as much as scores on a sheet.
Battling through sickness, injury, and the challenge of revamping each round, these athletes stepped onto the mat and delivered a powerful performance that earned them an impressive second-place finish.
What the crowd didn’t fully see was the grit behind the routines! Athletes pushing through when they didn’t feel their best, teammates stepping up for one another, and a team that refused to let adversity define their outcome. Each round represented not just choreography and skills, but determination, trust, and the belief that they could rise above the obstacles in front of them.
