Dear Lapeer Parents and Community Members,

Within the past 24 hours, Lapeer Community Schools (LCS) became aware of an employee who was arrested on allegations of misconduct. When LCS learned of the allegations, immediate steps were taken to communicate and cooperate with law enforcement. The employee was placed on a leave of absence pending the results of the investigation.

While the case is ongoing, the alleged misconduct does not appear to involve anyone within the Lapeer educational community. LCS has high standards for every employee, and we treat all allegations seriously. The district will launch its own internal investigation while continuing to cooperate with law enforcement.

If you have information regarding this situation, please contact law enforcement. Since this is an active criminal investigation and does not appear to involve the district, we would direct all questions to law enforcement and not comment further.

At LCS, we have clear expectations regarding the conduct of district employees and appropriate action is taken whenever these standards fail to be met. As a district, we are committed to following policies and procedures that ensure accountability. Students are our first priority; and following our policies helps ensure a positive and safe learning environment for each student.
