The auditions were tough, but in the end, Lapeer won.

Lapeer High School junior Griffyn Fenner won a recent audition and will be performing alongside the dazzling Broadway star Sutton Foster at the Wharton Center.

More than 100 incredible students from all across Michigan auditioned for this rare honor. Out of that massive pool of talent, the Wharton Center artistic team hand selected Fenner to join the ensemble.

A remarkable full-circle journey culminates on the Wharton Center stage.

Last spring, Fenner represented Imlay City High School in an exceptional student collaboration at the Sutton Foster Awards, following his critically acclaimed turn as Billy Flynn in "Chicago: Teen Edition."

In a spectacular continuation of that experience, Fenner's hard work has earned him the extraordinary opportunity to share the spotlight and take the stage alongside Sutton Foster herself for this special concert event.

Opportunities like this are about so much more than just a single night in the spotlight. They give rising stars like Fenner the invaluable chance to immerse themselves in a professional theater environment, collaborate with and learn from top industry professionals, and connect with other fiercely talented students from every corner of Michigan. It’s a firsthand look at exactly where dedication, passion, and training in the performing arts can take them!

Lapeer Performing Arts, Lapeer Community Schools, and the entire community alongside Griffyn’s family are so incredibly proud of his dedication to the performing arts. He is an important part of our program as well as the CTC Lapeer County Performing Arts Program.

Griffyn is also a Varsity and Travel Soccer competitive athlete and seems to manage all these things seamlessly.
