Turrill Elementary School

Welcome Chris SmithLapeer Community Schools is excited to announce that Chris Smith will take over as the Dean of Students at Turrill Elementary School when Turrill returns from intercession on November 3.

Chris is taking over the role with the departure of Shayna Raymond, who is relocating to the Bay City area and resigning her position with LCS.

Chris will also resume duties as the Faculty Manager for Zemmer athletic programs, a role he held last winter and spring.

Previously, Chris worked for Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker Schools in Pigeon as a tech support coordinator and also coached soccer and basketball.

He attended Grace Christian University in Grand Rapids, Michigan., graduating in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies degree with an emphasis in Youth Ministry. Chris then earned his Masters of Arts in Ministry from Grace Christian in September 2021.

While at Grace Christian, Chris worked in the athletic department and played basketball.

He is also attending Northwood University, pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management with an anticipated graduation date of May 2027.

From 2012-16, Chris served in the U.S. Navy as a logistics specialist hazardous material technician after graduating from Reese High School in 2012.

Away from the school setting, Chris refs Michigan high school soccer and just completed his 20th season this past summer with Bay Shore Soccer Camp where he has been a camper, counselor and staff member.
