New book vending machine at Schickler Elementary

A new book vending machine is now being used at Schickler Elementary School.

There’s a catch, though, and it’s all about free books for Schickler students.

Free? Yep. Students do not pay for the books. Instead, they need to earn a ticket to use to exchange for a token for the machine to get a book.

To earn a book, students must be recognized as a Student of the Month, be the most improved student in their class for winter/spring NWEA assessment, reach a classroom reading challenge, or be recognized for showing how other people matter.

The book vending machine, the first in Lapeer Community Schools, was made possible by funding from LEADER Fund and the Rotary Club of Lapeer.
