Fall 2026 Middle School Schedules/Recaps
September 23, 2026
The 8th grade football team beat the Davison Cardinals last night by the score of 39-33.
Gio Malone rushed for three TDs and Breslin King added a rushing score. Carter Hartman caught a touchdown pass from Dominic Groves and Nolan Widzinski scored the game-winning touchdown on a deep throw from Dom.
The offensive line played a great game and the defense stepped up big when it mattered the most.
Great win, boys!

The 8th grade girls basketball team lost a close game to Grand Blanc East, 32-31.
Leading the Lightning in scoring was Mia Comparoni with 12 points, Jannica Holiday and Taylor Pender each had six, and Willow Hourtienne had five. Alivia De-Nise scored two points

The 8th grade girls basketball team lost to Carman-Ainsworth yesterday, 44-28.
The leading scorers for Lapeer were Taylor Pender with seven points, Jannica Holiday with six, Mia Comparoni and Willow Hourtienne each with four and Penelope Goetz, Emmalynn Aulph and Monroe Sedely with two apiece.
6th/7th/8th Grade Girls Cross Country
September 10, 2026
The middle school girls cross country team competed at Davison with Owosso on Thursday afternoon, winning the race against both schools with a score of 22 points.
Leading the way for the Lightning was Amelia Burnaine with her second-overall finish for the two miles in a time of 14:26. Closely behind her was Fiona Blunt in third and Ella McCreedy in fourth. Evelyn Herr and Maisy Schons rounded out the top five for Lapeer.
Their next race is at RW on Tuesday, September 15, with racing beginning at 4:15 p.m.
September 15, 2026
On Tuesday afternoon, the middle school girls cross country team competed at home against Flushing and Grand Blanc East.
The three teams had 63 runners on the trails at RW.
The girls were victorious against both schools!
The top seven finishers for Lapeer:
Amelia Burnaine (7th grade) 3rd in the race
Ella McCreedy (8th grade) 5th overall
Evelyn Herr (8th grade) 7th in the race
Fiona Blunt (7th grade) 9th overall
Maisy Schons (7th grade) 11th overall
Charlie Fuhr (6th grade) 15th place
Leah Jones (8th grade) 21st overall
The team travels to Chesaning on Thursday.

Thursday evening the girls middle school cross country team travelled to Chesaning for the annual invitational.
The girls finished runner-up as a team and had some outstanding performances.
The girls earning a medal:
Amelia Burnaine- 5th place overall
Ella McCreedy- 9th place overall
Evelyn Herr- 11th place
Fiona Blunt- 16th place
The other girls rounding out the top seven included Maisy Schons, Charlie Fuhr and Josi Ridley.
The girls' next race is Tuesday at North Branch.

The cross country team ran at the County Invitational at North Branch.
The girls teams won the meet by outpacing the field with 39 points.

The middle school girls cross country team ran against Carman-Ainsworth and Grand Blanc West on Thursday afternoon.
The girls placed second as they defeated Carman but lost by two points to Grand Blanc.

The boys got off to a strong start to the season by defeating Owosso and Davison Thursday night.
Leading the way for the boys were Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), Zavion Baker (Zemmer), Noah Wacker (Zemmer), Keagen Badyrka (Zemmer), and Spencer Gleason (Zemmer).
The boys run again September 15 at RW.

On Tuesday afternoon, the middle school boys cross country team competed at home against Flushing and Grand Blanc East.
The three teams had 79 runners on the trails at RW.
The boys narrowly outran Flushing, but were defeated by Grand Blanc East.

The boys middle school cross country team competed at Chesaning last night and were lightning fast with many achieving a PR.
The team finished fifth overall and were led by Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), Noah Wacker (Zemmer), Jonathan Toro-Diaz (Zemmer), Spencer Gleason (Zemmer), Keagen Badyrka (Zemmer).
The top sixth graders from RW were Cooper McCreedy, Logan Gleason, Arden Frazier, and Briggs Roberts.
The boys run again on Tuesday in North Branch at 5:30 p.m.

The boys competed at North Branch last night and came out on top in a field of eight teams.

Top runners for the boys were Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), Zavion Baker (Zemmer), Noah Wacker (Zemmer), Spencer Gleason (Zemmer), and Keagen Badyrka (Zemmer).
The top RW runners were Cooper McCreedy, Logan Gleason, Arden Frasier, Briggs Roberts, Maverick Parks, Jonas Yelle, and Oliver Dudas.
The boys are back in action on Tuesday at Owosso.
