Fall 2026 Middle School Schedules/Recaps
September 30, 2026
The 7th grade football team traveled to Grand Blanc West Middle School and dominated another opponent 24-6.
Two touchdowns by Jackson Labar and a touchdown by Gage Konkel were exactly what was needed.
The defense did an outstanding job holding the Bobcats to a dismal six points.
The Lightning will be home against Grand Blanc East next week.
October 7, 2026
The 7th grade Lightning fell for the first time this season, going down to Grand Blanc East 22-8.
Lapeer will travel to Davison next Wednesday to take on the 7th grade Davison team.
September 23, 2026
The 8th grade football team beat the Davison Cardinals last night by the score of 39-33.
Gio Malone rushed for three TDs and Breslin King added a rushing score. Carter Hartman caught a touchdown pass from Dominic Groves and Nolan Widzinski scored the game-winning touchdown on a deep throw from Dom.
The offensive line played a great game and the defense stepped up big when it mattered the most.

The Lightning 8th grade football team defeated Grand Blanc West Wednesday by the score of 28-8.
Gio Malone scored two rushing touchdowns and Breslin King added one rushing score. Nolan Widzinski scored on a 50-yard interception return. Louis Merlo and Nolan Widzinski each added fumble recoveries.
Lapeer’s defense was led by Ryder Babcock with 14 tackles.
Great team effort, boys!

Lapeer’s 8th grade football team defeated Grand Blanc East Wednesday evening by the score of 28-8.
Dominic Groves led the Lapeer offense with three touchdown passes. Carter Hartman was on the receiving end of two scores and Nolan Widzinski caught one touchdown pass.
Breslin King added a rushing score.
The Lightning was tough on defense all night, forcing two turnovers. Ryder Babcock had a fumble recovery and Gio Malone added an interception.
The team is now 4-0!

The 8th grade girls basketball team lost a close game to Grand Blanc East, 32-31.
Leading the Lightning in scoring was Mia Comparoni with 12 points, Jannica Holiday and Taylor Pender each had six, and Willow Hourtienne had five. Alivia De-Nise scored two points

The 8th grade girls basketball team lost to Carman-Ainsworth yesterday, 44-28.
The leading scorers for Lapeer were Taylor Pender with seven points, Jannica Holiday with six, Mia Comparoni and Willow Hourtienne each with four and Penelope Goetz, Emmalynn Aulph and Monroe Sedely with two apiece.
6th/7th/8th Grade Girls Cross Country
September 10, 2026
The middle school girls cross country team competed at Davison with Owosso on Thursday afternoon, winning the race against both schools with a score of 22 points.
Leading the way for the Lightning was Amelia Burnaine with her second-overall finish for the two miles in a time of 14:26. Closely behind her was Fiona Blunt in third and Ella McCreedy in fourth. Evelyn Herr and Maisy Schons rounded out the top five for Lapeer.
Their next race is at RW on Tuesday, September 15, with racing beginning at 4:15 p.m.

On Tuesday afternoon, the middle school girls cross country team competed at home against Flushing and Grand Blanc East.
The three teams had 63 runners on the trails at RW.
The girls were victorious against both schools!
The top seven finishers for Lapeer:
Amelia Burnaine (7th grade) 3rd in the race
Ella McCreedy (8th grade) 5th overall
Evelyn Herr (8th grade) 7th in the race
Fiona Blunt (7th grade) 9th overall
Maisy Schons (7th grade) 11th overall

Leah Jones (8th grade) 21st overall
The team travels to Chesaning on Thursday.

Thursday evening, the girls middle school cross country team travelled to Chesaning for the annual invitational.
The girls finished runner-up as a team and had some outstanding performances.
The girls earning a medal:
Amelia Burnaine- 5th place overall
Ella McCreedy- 9th place overall
Evelyn Herr- 11th place
Fiona Blunt- 16th place
The other girls rounding out the top seven included Maisy Schons, Charlie Fuhr and Josi Ridley.
The girls' next race is Tuesday at North Branch.

The cross country team ran at the County Invitational at North Branch.
The girls teams won the meet by outpacing the field with 39 points.

The girls middle school cross country team competed in the Birch Run Invite on Thursday afternoon.
They came away with a second-place finish in the large school division.

The girls middle school cross country team competed against Holly and Corunna on Tuesday afternoon.
The girls defeated both teams.

Not in the top seven, but another drastic improvement was turned in by Eowyn Stafford, who took about a minute off her best performance.

The girls middle school cross country team competed at RW in the annual Halloween Invitational hosted by our high school.
The girls team defeated all seven teams to earn first place!

The girls middle school cross country team competed in the league championship on Tuesday at CFI.
The varsity girls finished in sixth place out of 13 teams.

Fiona Blune - 7th grade (Chatfield)- 23rd place

The boys got off to a strong start to the season by defeating Owosso and Davison Thursday night.
Leading the way for the boys were Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), Zavion Baker (Zemmer), Noah Wacker (Zemmer), Keagen Badyrka (Zemmer), and Spencer Gleason (Zemmer).
The boys run again September 15 at RW.

On Tuesday afternoon, the middle school boys cross country team competed at home against Flushing and Grand Blanc East.
The three teams had 79 runners on the trails at RW.
The boys narrowly outran Flushing, but were defeated by Grand Blanc East.

The boys middle school cross country team competed at Chesaning last night and were lightning fast with many achieving a PR.
The team finished fifth overall and were led by Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), Noah Wacker (Zemmer), Jonathan Toro-Diaz (Zemmer), Spencer Gleason (Zemmer), Keagen Badyrka (Zemmer).
The top sixth graders from RW were Cooper McCreedy, Logan Gleason, Arden Frazier, and Briggs Roberts.
The boys run again on Tuesday in North Branch at 5:30 p.m.

The boys competed at North Branch last night and came out on top in a field of eight teams.

The boys ran against Carman-Ainsworth and Grand Blanc West last night at Rolland-Warner and came out victorious by four points.
Top runners for the boys were Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), Zavion Baker (Zemmer), Noah Wacker (Zemmer), Spencer Gleason (Zemmer), and Keagen Badyrka (Zemmer).
The top RW runners were Cooper McCreedy, Logan Gleason, Arden Frasier, Briggs Roberts, Maverick Parks, Jonas Yelle, and Oliver Dudas.
The boys are back in action on Tuesday at Owosso.

The boys defeated both Owosso and Clio last night at Owosso.
Leading the way was Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), followed closely by Zavion Baker (Zemmer).
The next three finishers were Keagen Badyrka, Spencer Gleason and Jonathan Toro-Diaz (all from Zemmer).
The top RW runners were Cooper McCreedy, Briggs Roberts, Jonas Yelle, Grayson Cheney and Oliver Dudas.
The boys run again on Thursday in Birch Run.

The boys traveled to the Birch Run Invitational to compete against a very competitive field of seven teams—and they came home champions!
In an incredibly close race, the boys edged out the competition by just one point to claim the trophy for Lapeer. This marks the first trophy earned since John McCreedy began coaching four years ago, making it extra special!
Leading the way for Lapeer were Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), Zavion Baker, Noah Wacker, Spencer Gleason, Keagen Badyrka, and Jonathan Toro Diaz (all from Zemmer).
Representing Rolland-Warner, Logan Gleason, Arden Frasier, Maverick Parks, Briggs Roberts, and Greyson Cheney turned in strong performances and helped contribute to the team's exciting victory.
Congratulations to all of our runners! Their hard work, determination, and teamwork paid off in a big way.
The boys aren't done yet! They'll be back in action Tuesday at Corunna as they look to keep the momentum rolling!

The boys cross country team travelled to Corunna and defeated both Holly and Corunna.
Leading the way for the boys was Grayson Gomaere (Chatfield) and Zavion Baker (Zemmer), followed by Spencer Gleason, Jonathan Toro Diaz and Keagen Badyrka (All from Zemmer).
The top RW runners were Arden Frasier, Cooper McCreedy, Logan Gleason, Briggs Roberts and Maverick Parks.

The middle school cross country team hosted the Flint Metro League Cross Country League Championship at CFI on Tuesday and placed third in the varsity race out of 15 teams.
Leading the way for the boys were Grayson Goemaere (Chatfield), Noah Wacker, Spencer Gleason, Zavion Baker, Keagen Badyrka, Jonathan Toro Diaz, and Vallon Boller (all from Zemmer).
The JV race was exciting as well with Cooper McCreedy placing fifth overall, followed by Arden Frasier, Briggs Roberts, Logan Gleason, Maverick Parks, Greyson Cheney, Jonas Yelle, and Oliver Dudas (all sixth graders from RW).
The future looks good with this group.
This concludes the season for middle school cross country.
