MATH:

·         We are currently finishing up chapter 4 on Geometry.  The test will be on Monday, January 29th.  We are beginning chapter 5 on Patterns and Number Theory which includes a lot of work on fractions.

  

SOCIAL STUDIES:

·         We are currently working on Chapter 5 on Canada.

Science:

·         We are working on the unit on the Solar System.

 LANGUAGE ARTS:

•   Reading -   Finishing up the book "Hatchet" .
• Writing - Journal writing:  Personal Narratives,  punctuation and imagery, descriptive writing. 
• Spelling -  The Rebecca Sitton spelling program

COMING ACTIVITIES:

Report Cards will be going home on January 25th.

Wax museum project research is beginning on a famous person.  The Museum will be open to visitors on March 27th.  Students will be required to dress in character, give a 30 second speech, prepare a written research paper including bibliography and create a display board with a timeline, pictures etc.

March 6th will be the 6th grade parent orientation at Zemmer.  Prior to the orientation, Mrs. Brown and Mr. Niblack will be completing their recommendations for Math and Language Arts placement.  Sometime during the third week of February, a counselor from Zemmer will be here to instruct the students on filling out Course Selection Sheets.

 

      "Freedom Train" play about Harriet Tubman will be March 15th.
