Language

The students' reading and writing is showing tremendous growth.  It has been very exciting to watch their development.  We have been, and will continue to be, working in leveled reading groups and reading with our reading buddies.  I will be introducing the letters Xx, Qq and Yy and the words of, nine, and ten.

Math

We will continue to work on building skills in addition.  We will continue to use pictures and manipulatives to add.  We will also be working with reading and writing addition sentences using the words “and” and “equal” as well as the symbols “+” and “=”.

Kindergarten Lunch

On May 31^st, we are giving Kindergartners an opportunity to experience having lunch at school.  The menu item being offered will be pepperoni pizza.  If your child does not want to buy lunch, he/she can pack a lunch.  Please see attached form and return to school by Thursday, May 17^th.

Looking Ahead Zoo Trip

Our field trip to the zoo is coming up.  We are going on Thursday, June 7^th.   All parents are invited.  Siblings are also welcome as long as they drive with their parents.  We are not allowed to take them on the bus.  We will be leaving school at 9:20 and returning by 3:30.  Because of the extended day, parents of A.M. students will need to pick their child up at school.  Parents of P.M. students will need to drive their child to school that day.  A permission slip will be coming home later this month.
