After a busy 2007 summer of planning, we are
well on our way to developing a middle school
program and planning for the future. The bond
issue approved in May 2007 will change the
shape of Lapeer Community Schools forever!
Outside of the middle schools, there are many
other projects that are in the works like
technology and furnishings.
All schools will be included in a new
district-wide telephone system, including phones
and voicemail for all classrooms. Other
classroom equipment will include new computers
and printers, interactive white boards, and
multimedia projectors. Current network
infrastructure will be upgraded in all buildings
to provide for increased capacity and faster
connectivity. New computer labs will also be
added, including new computers in the media
centers.
Furniture is another important component of this
bond that EVERY school in the District will
benefit from. After visiting several other
school districts and working with a furniture
committee, we are in the research phase of
determining what will work best for educating
students today and well into the future.
Many of our school buildings will also receive
things from new flooring to upgraded electrical
and lighting, parking lots, miscellaneous
renovations and much more.
