Precalculus and trigonometry are concerned with developing students’ understanding of the concepts of precalc/trig by providing experience with methods and applications.
*Your grade will be composed of a math journal, quizzes and tests. The math journal will count for 25%, quizzes will count for 25%, and tests will be worth 50%.
*Grades will be posted weekly on Thursdays.

*Folder for math journal
*Dividers for folder
*Calculator (preferred TI-83) A classroom set of calculators is not supplied.
*Pencils/pens
*Paper
*You need to purchase a 3 ring binder folder big enough to organize your work for half of the year, another 3 ring binder needs to be purchased for the second half of the year
*You need 5 dividers labeled: Warm ups, notes, homework, quizzes, tests.
*You will be given a record sheet, which needs to be placed at the very beginning of the folder
*Folders will be collected weekly as follows:
Monday: 1st hour
Tuesday: 2nd hour
Wednesday: 3rd hour
Thursday: 4th hour
Friday: 6th hour
*Tests will be announced 3-4 days ahead of time. If you are absent on the day of a test, you must make it up within 2 days. You can usually choose to make up the test either before/after school or during class if the teacher allows.
*If you are not in school the day before the test, you will be expected to still take the test on the regularly scheduled day, because tests are announced plenty of time before hand.
*Quizzes will be announced 1-2 days ahead of time. Students are allowed to use notes on quizzes. If you are absent on the day of a quiz, you will be required to take the quiz the day you return.
*To succeed in any upper level math class, you must do homework daily. EXPECT HOMEWORK DAILY!
*Homework will be checked daily by the teacher walking around to make sure you have completed it.
*When your math journal is due, that is when the teacher will check the homework more closely and give you a grade.
*Students are to treat everyone with respect!
*Students are expected to act like college students through work ethic, behavior, study habits, etc…
*Students will be expected to complete everything required per day. That includes, warm ups (5 minute checks), note taking, homework, etc…
*Math, and especially precalc/calc is not an easy subject sometimes. Students will be required to ask questions and get help either in class or before/after school.
*Students have to be willing to work through problems. Just because you don’t get it today, doesn’t mean you won’t get it tomorrow!
*Card playing is not allowed at all!
*No gum allowed
*Students are encouraged to seek out extra help from the teacher either before/after school or by email.
*Please make sure the teacher is available on the day you would like to come in.
