Knowing the constellations
and individual stars and being able to identify them in
the night sky can be
a daunting task, especially for individuals that have
very little experience in Astronomy.
Therefore, Lapeer West High School, in association with
L.C.I.S.D., would like to offer assistance to
teachers throughout Lapeer County when it comes time to
teaching your students about stars,
constellations, moon phases, seasons, and our solar
system.
At no cost to the schools,
we have the resources and individuals that can bring
this knowledge
directly to your students in your classrooms. Available
to us is an inflatable planetarium called
Star Lab. With this inflatable dome, highly-trained high
school juniors and seniors can present
lessons that cover topics involving the sun, moon,
stars, our solar system, the Milky Way Galaxy,
and the seasons.
Throughout the last five
years, Lapeer West students have passed on their
knowledge to thousands
of kids ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to Eighth grade.
We have presented at many of the schools
within Lapeer County including Mayfield, Hadley, Murphy,
East, Maple Grove, Elba, Lynch, Cramton,
St. Paul, Bishop Kelly, Imlay City Middle School, Almont
Elementary, North Branch, Ruth Fox
Elementary, and North Branch Elementary.
